The ‘CU Fest 2019’ brought with itself a celebration like never witnessed before. The University campus beautifully decorated with fairy lights and flying kites was a very aesthetic welcome for the arriving guests. On a chilly winter evening, we witnessed participants from South adapting to the cold by feasting on steaming hot chole bhature. If this isn’t a perfect depiction of the essence of the fest, what is?
The campus so splendidly filled with students from different walks of life communicating and learning in the presence of each other effortlessly depicts the whole meaning of the youth fest organized by the AIU.
Elements of creativity surround the whole university as students from different departments exhibited their art in various spots of the campus.
One of the main attractions for the students was the mini amusement park set up in the south campus that surely brought out the hidden child in everyone and highlighted the carnival mood.
The CU Fest 2019 might have come close to a conclusion after a whirlwind 4 days of extravagant fun and excitement. From concerts to amazing performances by various participants this event has witnessed the best from all. But what shall not be missed are the little details of this massive event. All around different spots of the campus students from different departments of Chandigarh University showcased the best of their creativity through working models and art pieces. Various engineering departments put forth amazing pieces that created awareness. Ashish Chaurasiya from mechanical engineering described his model , “We have made a boat using waste cold drinks bottles and DC motors adapters , wires, an artificial pool made from scrap material.” When asked about the theme he further explained , ” The theme that we chose was water pollution since it is a very relevant topic that we need to create awareness about.” Also, students from chemical engineering followed the environment theme showcasing the consequences of using plastic and the harm that it’s does to the environment. They used plastic to make model of mother nature. Students of department of aerospace engineering paid tribute to eminent women of science and aerospace like Mary Sherman Morgan, Elise McGill and Yvonne Brill.
Followed by the model constructed by the architecture students with another strong message. Their model had the title “self reflection” and the whole setup depicted how the guardian figures (tree) always give equal amount of attention and resources to their child yet many fail to acknowledged the equality and the true value of utilising and respecting these given resources. The two miniatures below the true are the two category of children. One , who well understands and acknowledges the guardians efforts and this tries his best to go forward with productive works and become more Human like by being the child who does not let all of the parents efforts to go in vain. Whereas the second miniature as it depictes goes the wrong way and fails to make appropriate use of the parent’s investments on them and this failure in return in talking them away from being a human. Thus the whole set up by the department wanted to help the college crowd realise how every child is equal to their parent and also remind us to stay on the right track always.
Furthermore the Fashion department had displayed their self made creations of garments which were extremely attractive.
The whole display of these talents does not end here, it is just a start. This event helped these hidden artists surface up and display their thoughts in the most creative of ways. These small contributions by the different departments not only added more beauty to the campus premises but also made the efforts and excitement of the crowd more evident.
